Zubeen Garg: Internet Suspension During Exam Not Necessary

Guwahati: Assam’s heartthrob Zubeen Garg said on Saturday that cutting off internet access interferes with daily activities and is not necessary during examination.

Zubeen Garg responded to the internet being shut down during the direct recruitment exam throughout 25 districts of the state by saying that it would be preferable if applicants submit their mobile phones before their examination.

Zubeen Garg said, “This is the first time I have heard about internet being suspended for an exam. It would have been better if only the candidates submitted their mobile phones before entering the exam hall or any other alternative solution to the problem.”

“People face a lot of problem without internet services. All types of online services including Ola, Uber and food delivery services get disrupted,” he added.

Notably, the writ petition filed against the internet ban during the direct recruitment examination was denied on Friday by the Gauhati High Court. For the upcoming direct recruitment exam on August 28 and September 11, internet access will thus continue to be suspended.

The appeal was filed in response to the state government’s decision to turn off the internet for four hours on August 21 when the Grade IV direct recruitment exam was being administered in 25 districts.

Businesses have reportedly lost money as a result of the ban, while commuters and residents have also reported being inconvenienced.

Moreover, due to the suspension of internet the business establishments face problems with huge loss and as well as commuters and residents experiencing inconvenience.
