10 Dead and Several Injured After Wedding Bus Crashes
International Desk, 12 June: As many as 10 people were killed and several others were injured after a bus carrying wedding guests slid off a road in Australia’s New South Wales on Monday.
According to reports, the incident occurred late on Sunday night in the Hunter Valley area of Australia. Australia-based The Sydney Morning Herald reported citing police.
Rescue efforts were carried out overnight on Wine Country Drive close to the Hunter Motorway off-ramp in Greta immediately after the incident.
In a statement, the police stated that 10 people died and 10 were taken by road and helicopter to a hospital for treatment. A total of 18 passengers were able to escape the horrific situation uninjured.
On the other hand, the emergency services rushed to the spot as they were immediately notified about the incident.
While everything was going on, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sent his “deepest sympathies” to the families of the victims and injured.
Taking to Twitter, he said, “All Australians waking up to tragic news from the Hunter send our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of those killed in this horrific bus tragedy. For a day of joy to end in such devastating loss is cruel indeed. Our thoughts are also with those who have been injured.”
He also appreciated the emergency personnel who arrived quickly and those who are still helping and providing care for the victims of the tragedy.
