Guwahati, 4th September: In a tragic incident involving a violent land dispute in Guwahati’s Gaushala locality, 10 members of the Jupiter Club were apprehended by Guwahati Police on Sunday night. They are currently under police interrogation.
The dispute, which escalated into a deadly clash, claimed the life of a youth named Sudem Boro. The conflict arose during violent clashes over a piece of land, with Sudem Boro losing his life in the process.
The dispute reportedly erupted between members of a club and the youth’s family regarding the purchase of land. An acquaintance of the youth had acquired a piece of land from a woman in Gaushala, according to sources. Tensions flared during financial transactions related to the purchased land.
Allegedly, the woman sought assistance from the members of Jupiter Club to resolve the dispute. However, instead of mediating, the club members resorted to physical assault on the youth.
Sudem Boro, injured during the altercation, was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing medical care. Meanwhile, another youth remains in critical condition at GMCH, receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.
