10 Soldiers Dead In IED Explosion by Maoist

Guwahati: As many as 10 soldiers and a driver was killed in an explosion carried out by Naxals in Dhantewada district of Chhatisgarh.

According to reports, a patrolling party was attacked by Naxals on Wednesday afternoon in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. 

As many as 10 jawans including the driver were killed when an IED planted on the Aranpur road exploded as a DRG squad was travelling back to their headquarters.

While the number of victims has yet to be verified by officials, sources say it might grow higher.

Reportedly, Naxals vowed to assault security personnel in a letter last week.

The detonation was caused by an IED, according to Chhattisgarh Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and a team has been sent to perform rescue operations in the area which is also experiencing rain.

In response to rumours of a Naxal IED strike on security forces in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel stated, “There is information with us.” It’s heartbreaking. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the departed families. This struggle is nearing its end. The Naxals will not be spared.”
