Guwahati: At least 15 suspected Rohingyas were detained at the Badarpur Railway Station in the Karimganj district by a team of RPF on Saturday.
The detained persons were coming from New Jalpaiguri on the Kanchanjunga Express.
Based on suspicion the suspected persons were detained while they were about to board a passenger train to Tripura’s Agartala. While being interrogated, they claimed that they had come from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.
As per the police, nine mobile phones, and Rs 50000 were recovered from them by the RPF team. Among the suspected illegal Rohingyas, there were six men, three women, and six minors.
