16 Thieves Held for Stealing Expensive Goods In Assam

Guwahati: As many as 16 notorious thieves have been arrested by Biswanath Police on Sunday.

Among 16 thieves including 14 are residents of Nalbari and two residents of Guwahati.

According to reports, all of them were arrested during a raid.

Reports say that a significant amount of goods was stolen from Power Grid Corporation in the Pub Jinjia area in January of this year.

A group of notorious thieves had also been stealing expensive items from the company before this occurrence.

After noticing the missing items, the corporation filed a complaint at Jinjia Police Station.

An investigation was carried out by Jinjia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sagar Shah based on the complaint that had been filed under the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Kulendra Nath Deka and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Amit Hojai of the Biswanath district.

Ten thieves were arrested by police from a hotel in Tezpur during the course of the inquiry.

Based on their confessions, the police again apprehended the remaining six robbers from Nalbari and Guwahati along with goods worth Rs. 10 lakhs.

Eight of the robbers were remanded in custody for further questioning after the criminals were brought before the court.
