Team India ended the first day of the second Test against England in Chennai at a score of 300/6. Indian opener Rohit Sharma smashed 161 runs off 231 deliveries, while vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 67 runs off 149 deliveries.
Winning the toss India decided to bat first but Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill failed to score a run in the innings. Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 33 at the stumps. For England both Jack Leach and Moen Ali took two crucial wickets.
