Guwahati: Doctors removed a 30 kg ovarian mass from a 16-years-old girl at the Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

The girl belonged to Panitola in the Golaghat district. She was admitted a week ago at the AMCH. She was suffering from an ovarian tumor for a long time. On Wednesday, a critical surgery was conducted by the AMCH’s emergency and anesthesia team.

AMCH superintendent Sanjiv Kakati said that due to intubation difficulty at the first attempt was unsuccessful but after a difficult technical maneuver, senior physician successfully resuscitated and incubated her.
Kakati added, “Patient’s vital organs were stable and she was fine. The mass was densely adherent and had a large fluid mass creating the girl’s daily livelihood a very difficult one and she had to undergo a life-saving emergency operation.”

He further added that the surgery was very difficult but their team “did a great job” and successfully done the surgery.
