Guwahati: Five youths from Assam have been suspected to have joined the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).
The youths have been identified as Dhanjit Das who is a resident of Barpeta, Udhab Das is a resident of Baksa’s Gowardhan, Niranjan Deka is a resident of Kumarikata in Tamulpur, Jugal Sharma hails from Narengi in Guwahati and Ankur Das is a resident of Jorhat’s Nimati.
It needs to be mentioned that Udhab Das is a member of Veer Lachit Sena, an organization led by Shrinkhal Chaliha.
Since September last year, around 300 Assam youths have joined the banned militant outfit.
Last month, three youths were arrested for allegedly trying to join ULFA-I. The trio was arrested from Brahmajan area of Tinsukia district while they were in route Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh.
