9 arrested for Embezzlement of Scholarship Fund in Assam’s Nagaon

Guwahati: Nine people has been arrested from Nagaon district of Assam for their alleged involvement of misappropriation of scholarship fund worth about Rs 3 crore have come to light.

The CID, Assam Police in an operation launched at the district and has arrested nine people in connection.

According to reports, 18-member team has conducted the raid at 9 places in Nagaon in which embezzlement of Rs. 3 crores.

Despite the fact that no one has spoken out about the misappropriation of funds, it has been revealed that a fund embezzlement of Rs. 3 crore was given for the scholarships of minority students at a private college.

The CID raided 9 locations and detained 9 people in connection with the crime after receiving a particular tip.

Notably, monies for a scholarship programme were misappropriated after being released in the names of 1000 pupils from the private school ‘Hum Ek National Secondary & Senior Secondary’. The financial misappropriation involves the institution’s director, Inamul Hasan, and principal, Haider Ali, as well as 9 others.

However, Nagaon police had previously detained both Inamul and Haider Ali. The Nagaon police have filed a suo moto case number 2669/2021, which has been handed over to the CID.

It needs to be noted that after the case has been handed over to CID, it conducted the raid at 9 places and arrested 9 persons including a woman and a teacher. The lady identified as Rumi Das and the teacher Saiful Islam. The others who have been arrested are Mrinal Konwar, Mustaq Ahmed, Hussain Ahmed, Allauddin, Sabir Ahmed, Abdul Waheed and Imran Hussain.
