COVID | All Socio-Cultural activities banned in Sikkim

Guwahati: The Sikkim Government on Thursday banned all socio-cultural activities in Sikkim for a month.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang chairing a High-level Meeting at Samman Bhawan, Ganagtok to reviewed the current situation of COVID-19 in the state and banned get-togethers to curb the spread of COVID-19 for a month.

A complete ban will be imposed on all socio-religious activities and get-togethers as per the Sikkim Government. The activities banned include marriage, pujas and birthday parties. This will be applicable in both urban and rural areas of the state.

The government has also restricted the serving the food and beverages during last rites and other functions.

It may be mentioned that the positivity rate in Sikkim has reached 20.7 percent and as of now the authorities are moving towards strict containment measures so that there are no further rise in the cases.
