Bamboo Industrial Park worth Rs 50 Crore in Haflong
Haflong: The foundation stone for the Bamboo Industrial Park worth Rs 50 crore was laid by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday in Haflong.
The project will be implemented with funds from DoNER Ministry.
Chief Minister Sarma in a tweet said, “Laid the foundation stone of Bamboo Industrial Park at Manderdisa, Dima Hasao. The Rs 50 cr project will be implemented by @MDoNER_India. Once completed, the project will usher in a new era in the economy of #NorthEast & create vast employment opportunities for local youth.”
The project is a part of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between the Government of India, the Government of Assam, and both the factions Dima Halam Daogah (now surrendered).
The park will be set up within an area of 75 hectares at a total cost of Rs 50 crores.
A press statement from the CM’s office stated, “Harnessing the potential of Bamboo in Dima Hasao district the park will act as an institution by introducing the latest technologies in bamboo processing, skill-building, employment generation and changing the economic and industrial scenario of the entire District as well as the state.”
