Another person arrested for “supporting” Taliban in Assam”
Guwahati: The Assam Police has arrested another person for allegedly uploading a post in support of the Taliban. The person was arrested from the Jorabat area of Guwahati on Monday night.
The police said that the accused identified as Maqbool Alam had supported the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan through his social media account. The person arrested was an owner of a tyre shop located in the Jorabat area.
So far fifteen people, including an Assam Police constable, a senior leader of the state Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a medical student, and a journalist were arrested from various districts for their alleged social media posts “supporting” the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban.
The arrested people have been booked under several sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
