Guwahati: The Assam Excise Department has declared a dry day on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi in Guwahati.
In view of the celebration of Dashmi in the state, all the bars along with alcohol shops will be closed in the city on 15 October.
It may be mentioned that Pallav Gopal Jha, the Deputy Commissioner, announced the days of Vijaya Dashami i.e October 14 and 15, as dry days until the immersion of the Durga idol is completed.
On the same day, all foreign and country liquor warehouses /IMFL ‘OFF’ /’ON’ CLUB ‘ON’, retail country liquor vendors and commercial establishments that deal with the sale of booze must close.
And any violation of this order, in any form, is punishable under Excise Law.
