Drunk & Drive: 84 people’s driving licenses suspended
Guwahati: At least 84 people’s driving licenses were suspended for drunk driving last night in Guwahati.
In a drive against drunk driving by the traffic police department, at least 84 people were intercepted for driving their vehicle in a drunken state.
A penalty of Rs 10000 was also imposed by the officials.
The news was shared by the Guwahati Traffic Department on their official Twitter account.
To guarantee that no accidents occur during the New Year, the traffic police announced early on Friday that they will be on high alert to track down intoxicated drivers in the city.
According to traffic police authorities, they devised a comprehensive plan to prevent accidents in the city around the New Year.
Special procedures and actions are being made to prevent cases of reckless driving and overspeeding.
It may be mentioned that earlier Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the police department to ensure that no accident occurs during the New year celebration.
