Guwahati: A senior journalist working as the correspondent of a satellite news channel from Tinsukia was also the founder of Electronic Media Forum allegedly shot himself at his home in Tinsukia district of Assam on Monday.
The journalist identified as Bikash Moran, lived with his mother, wife and three children. The incident took place around 12:30 am in the room of his own residence.
According to reports, Moran shot himself “twice” with his pistol and with two rounds of bullet.
Moran was one of the senior journalists in Assam and has a record of working with several major media houses in the state.
Meanwhile, a pistol has been recovered by the police from his room and further investigation to the matter is underway.
However, the reason behind his dead is yet to be ascertained.
