Assam: SBI ATM looted in Nagaon
Guwahati: State Bank of India ATM corner was looted in Nagaon district of Assam. The incident took place in the wee hours on Monday.
According to reports, Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra informed that as per the primary investigation the robbery took place around 3.30 am. He further informed that the police are checking the CCTV footage to nab the culprits.
Mishra said that the thieves used gas-cutters to loot the machines.
The culprits allegedly grabbed three machines from the corner, according to a local, and this was the first time such an occurrence had occurred in the neighbourhood.
A group of unidentified individuals robbed two State Bank of India ATMs in Bongaigaon’s Barpara last week, stealing more than Rs 40 lakh.
According to the information available to them, the theft was carried out by five to six men.
The men had unplugged the CCTV wires before the work, according to the police, and an ATM monitoring team in Hyderabad had informed the police about the tampering.
According to the police, the robbers had already fled the scene with the money when the officers arrived.
It may be mentioned that the exact amount of money looted is yet to be audited.
