Guwahati geared up for Festival of colours ‘Holi’

Guwahati: Festival of colours ‘Holi’ is here and people in Guwahati is all set to celebrate this with joy and happiness. All age group with diverse community began the events to mark the festival of Holi on Friday.

After the world has witnessed the novel corona virus pandemic and subsequent lockdown which began since 2019. People are get-together after the Covid-19 pandemic and stages of lockdown to regain the charm of Holi.

The markets, residential areas and temples are decorated with flowers and lights which makes the city colourful and brings joy to people.

Apart from capital city Guwahati, many parts of Assam are prepared to celebrate Holi which is locally known as “DOUL UTSAV”.

The city is witnessing not only the colours but also varieties of sweets, beverages, rain dance and many more events.

The business is blooming again after it had been hit by the covid-19 pandemic that follows subsequent lockdown in the last two years.

People are buying balloons, colours (most popular seems to be ‘herbal gulal’), water guns, and varieties of masks to celebrate the Holi.

Guwahati city is looking forward to celebrate the festival of colours, symbolic of joy and victory of good over evil.
