Former Mayor Mrigen Sarania Files Nomination for GMC Polls
Guwahati: Former Mayor Mrigen Sarania on Wednesday files his nomination for the upcoming Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) polls.
Sarania submitted his nomination to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kamrup (M). He was accompanied by senior leader Ramendra Narayan Kalita.
Meanwhile, candidates from all parties filed nomination papers at the DC office today.
However, the last date for filing nominations for the GMC elections is today.
The GMC election will take place on April 19, 2022, with voting beginning at 8 am on April 21.
The total number of voters is 7 lakh 96 thousand 829, with 3 lakh 96 thousand 891 male voters and 3 lakh 99 thousand 911 female voters. There are 27 transgender voters in this election. There will be 789 polling locations in this election.
There will be 3 seats reserved for Schedule Tribe and 4 seats for Schedule Caste.
The election commission earlier said that a political party will be able to spend Rs. 2lakh 50 thousand in each ward for the polls.
