Landslides In Meghalaya, Two Dead
Guwahati: At least two people including a 14-year-old minor were killed on Monday in unprecedented landslides that occurred in Meghalaya.
According to reports, there were roughly seven landslides across the state. Two individuals were killed in the East Khasi Hills district’s Mawlat village, which is part of the Mawkynrew block.
The deceased were identified as Rohit Kshiar (14) of Mawlat village and Dilibon Tangsang (35) of Mawkria village.
They were going through the region when the tragedy occurred.
In a separate incident, a landslide in Umblai hamlet damaged two houses and two shops.
Five houses were reportedly destroyed in another landslide in Lyngshing village. One person suffered injuries too.
Landslides occurred along Thangbnai-Mawlyngot Road, Shillong-Dawki Road, Mawphlang Balat Road under Mawsynram Block, and the Wahumkhrah river near Lawmali Quarter.
