Jharkhand HC: Rahul Gandhi granted relief in 2019 defamation case

Guwahati: The Jharkhand High Court granted Rahul Gandhi relief on Thursday for his alleged contentious remarks against Amit Shah of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the state’s Chaibasa.

While hearing a petition submitted by Gandhi, Justice Sanjay Dwivedi put a hold on any coercive action against him, according to ANI.

Aside from that, the court suspended the lower court’s proceedings in the case and issued a notice to the petitioner.

It may be mentioned that the former Congress President in 2019 had said that a murderer can become president of the BJP but this cannot happen in Congress

Meanwhile, the high court has also ordered the Jharkhand government to file a response in the case. The hearing in the case has been postponed until September 26.
