Bhogeswar Baruah An Arjuna Awardee Admitted to ONGC Hospital
Digital Desk: Due to a physical ailment, legendary athlete and recipient of the Arjuna Award Bhogeswar Baruah is receiving medical care at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Hospital in Sivasagar, Assam.
He was admitted to the hospital, according to sources, because of excruciating knee discomfort.
By winning the first gold medal at the Asian Games in 1966, Baruah wrote Assam’s history.
The 86-year-old athlete, a Jaisagar local, once shocked the globe by practising with imperfect facilities on the banks of Jaisagar Pond.
However, the Arjuna Awardee is currently unable to walk due to excruciating knee discomfort.
Baruah, who is currently in a hospital bed, laments his inability to take part in the upcoming sporting competitions in the districts of Hojai and Dibrugarh.
It should be noted that no government representatives or authorities have enquired about the wellbeing of a great athlete in the state’s past.
