According to ANI, Gill is charged in numerous cases filed and under investigation by the National Investigation Agency, including targeted killing, extortion for funding terrorism, attempted murder, upsetting communal harmony, and sowing fear among the people of the state of Punjab. Gill is also involved in large-scale cross-border smuggling of drugs and weapons.
According to the notification, Gill will be added to the list of terrorists since the Central Government believes he is connected to terrorism and is acting “in exercise of the powers given by section 35 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.”
With his inclusion in the Fourth Schedule under UAPA, Mir will be the 53rd individual to be designated a terrorist, it said.
