Nagaland: 2 persons abducted from residence of NPF candidate, vehicle set ablaze
Guwahati: Even with a week till the start of the Assembly elections, pre-election violent incidents in Nagaland have increased. Two people were abducted from the home of a Naga People’s Front (NPF) candidate in the Mon district on February 21 by unidentified criminals.
According to reports, the two individuals are not NPF members but were staying at the residence of Tahwang Angh, the NPF candidate for the 41 Tizit assembly constituencies.
Police say that a car was also set ablaze in the same area where the kidnapping occurred.
Reports, however, indicated that the kidnappers later freed one victim while a search operation to free the other was in progress.
In this regard, police have filed a complaint and are moving quickly to make additional arrests.
50 seats in the Assembly will be up for election in Nagaland on February 27 and the votes will be counted on March 2.
