Guwahati: Assam Police seized a massive consignment of narcotics during a late-night raid in Nagaon district of the state.
This was informed by officials on Monday.
Based on specific inputs of a possible smuggling bid, Nagaon Police conducted an anti-narcotics raid.
During the raid, a total of 18.27 kilograms of morphine was seized.
As per reports, the morphine was seized from a sedan car which was intercepted by Nagaon Police at Jakhalabandha.
Upon searching the vehicle, police came across the morphine consignment which was seized.
Moreover, two people including the driver of the car have also been arrested by the police officials.
The assessed value of the recovered contraband items is approximately Rs 9.13 crore in international market.
An investigation into the massive heroin bust has been initiated and Nagaon Police is looking into every possible angle.
The Assam Chief Minister also appreciated Assam Police and urged them to keep continue with their drive against drug menace in the state.
