Assam HSLC Paper Leak: 22 Persons Held Over HSLC General Science Paper Leak, Informs DGP

Guwahati: As many as 22 people have been arrested in connection with the paper leak for the General Science subject of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exam in different parts of the state, according to GP Singh, director general of police for Assam who made the announcement on March 14.

The Assam DGP tweeted about the news on March 14. He added that arrest had been made in Guwahati, Tinsukia, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya and Dibrugarh.

His tweet read, “Reference paper leakage case of General Science (C3) of HSLC examination being conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Assam – 22 persons have been detained at/from Guwahati, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. Further lawful action as mandated by law is being taken against them. We remain committed to unearth the network of people involved in leakage of the question paper and the conspirators.”

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Assam arrested three people on Monday, March 13 for their alleged participation in the paper leak incident.

Jyotirekha Borgohain, Herambo Kumar Das and driver Bindeshwar Tumung were the three individuals who were arrested. All three of the individuals are employee of Bhauri Devi Sarawgi Secondary School.

However, the CID is also cross-examining another person who has been accused one named Chitra Roy in connection with the case. He hasn’t been caught yet though.

The CID also arrested seven students for their alleged participation in the paper leak incident after acting on information. All studying at a private school in Dibrugarh. The CID team is presently questioning the students.

The SEBA Examination Controller Nayan Jyoti Sarma and the Chief Controller Jimli Kakoty Saikia were also called in by the CID.
