Kamrup (M) Admin Organizes ‘Audition’ in Guwahati To Select Bihu Dancers for Guinness Attempt
Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration held an audition for female Bihu dancers also known as “Bihu-Nasoni,” on Saturday at Rangghar Bakori in Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati in an effort to break the Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance in a single frame on April 14.
A total of 11,140 artists will be a part of the Bihu performance in Guwahati’s Sarusajai stadium on April 14 on the occasion of ‘Goru Bihu’.
The Kamrup (M) district government had previously made a portal available for online registration of artists or participants.
During a meeting with district administration representatives, officers of the Bihu celebratory committees and master trainers (bihu) Kalpana Deka additional deputy commissioner of Kamrup Metro District released the website www.idealinfoz.com/bihu.
The extra deputy commissioner compared the portal to an application when he released it. “The selection committee will select the performers after registration. The last date for registration has been fixed at March 18,” said ADC Kalpana Deka.
