Punjab Police Issues LOC & Non-Bailable Warrant Against Amritpal Singh

Guwahati: Punjab Police issued a lookout circular (LOC) and non-bailable warrant on March 22 against Waris de Punjab chief and Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.

During a press conference, Punjab’s Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill stated that the Khalistani leader has not yet been arrested.

The IGP said, “We are putting forth all attempts to capture him. It is difficult to say that we are optimistic that we will arrest him soon. Other states and central agencies are fully cooperating with Punjab Police.”

“A lookout circular (LOC) and non-bailable warrant (NBW) have been issued against Amritpal Singh, who remains a fugitive and efforts are being made to arrest him,” the Punjab government’s Information and Public Relations Department stated.

A pro-Khalistani leader from Punjab was brought to Assam on March 21.

The prisoner was airlifted from Punjab to the LGBI Airport in Guwahati on Monday night. Later, in the early hours of Tuesday under strict security he was moved to Dibrugarh Central Jail.

Police withheld the prisoner’s name although it was assumed to be Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh.

According to the Punjab Police, Amritpal’s uncle Harjit Singh and his driver Harpreet Singh allegedly surrenders in late Sunday night near Bullandpur gurdwara in Jalandhar.

Amritpal Singh’s four assistants were brought to Dibrugarh on Sunday. Amritpal Singh is a Sikh radical preacher. Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Bhagwant Singh, Gurmeet Singh, and Pradhanmantri Bajeka are all being held at the Dibrugarh Central Jail at the present time.

A month earlier, the leader of “Waris De Punjab” Amritpal Singh and his supporters stormed a police station with weapons to free one of his aides. Six police officers suffered injuries as a result of the altercation. The Punjab administration faced harsh criticism for the state’s law and order condition in the wake of the incident.
