Guwahati, 3 May: The body of a woman stored in the mortuary at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) went missing on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the strange incident took place due to the mistake of GMCH authorities.
The deceased body have been identified as Lakhimi Chettri, a resident of Amsing, Jorabat who’s body was taken for a post-mortem on May 1. The body was then stored in morgue for 4 days. However, the body of the women went missing today.
According to reports, the body of Lakhimi was mistaken to be that of someone else and was taken away in place of another corpse while the body of the other woman was handed over to Lakhimi’s family.
The family members of Lakhimi were in shocked after the family members realised that Lakhimi’s body had been replaced with someone else’s.
