Shootout at Car Racing Show in Mexico,10 Shot Dead and 9 Injured
International Desk, 21 May: As many as 10 road racers were killed and nine others were injured in a shootout at a car show in of Northern Mexico Baja California on Saturday.
According to the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office, the attack took place during an event featuring all-terrain car racing show in Ensenada’s San Vicente area.
Reportedly, 911 calls stated that about 2:18 pm (2118 GMT) individuals armed with long weapons exited a grey van and started firing at participants at a petrol station.
Along with other organisations, local and state law enforcement, the Marines, the fire department and the Mexican Red Cross arrived at the spot.
According to mayor Armando Ayala Robles said that Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez, the state attorney general ordered a special team to investigate the incident.
As per reports, the victims’ names or nationalities have not yet been made public. The injured were taken by the Red Cross of Mexico to medical facilities in Northern Baja California.
