HSLC Results 2023: Highest Pass Percentage Recorded in Chirang With 88.68%

Guwahati, 22 May: Chirang district had the highest pass percentage in the state as the results for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) were declared on Monday. The overall pass rate in Assam was 72.69 percent.

In all, 4,15,324 candidates appeared for the board exam. First division secured by 94,913 students, second division by 1,48,573 students and third division by 58,394 students out of the total.

8,517 students earned distinction marks in the exams while 18,653 students achieved star grades.

Although there were multiple difficulties surrounding the HSLC exam this year due to reports of paper leaks at various exam centres throughout the state, the pass percentage broke the previous year’s record because the percentage in 2022 was 56.49 percent.

Chirang had the lowest pass rate of all the districts of Assam in 2022 (34.27%). However, this year the district has outshined all the other 32 thirty-three districts in Assam by recording 88.68 percent.

Meanwhile, Sivasagar and Dima Hasao districts have maintained their positions in the top three positions in terms of pass percentages, registering 88.40 percent and 88.12 percent, respectively compared to 81.17 percent and 81.31 percent in 2022 for Sivasagar and Dima Hasao, respectively.

On the other hand, Kamrup (Metropolitan) district which had a pass percentage of 77.18 percent was positioned in 12th place.

Focusing on the district with the worst results, Goalpara has the lowest pass percentage with 59.80 percent which is marginally higher than the 41.20 percent mark from the previous year. However, this has little bearing because the district has consistently had the lowest performance for the past two years placing it first from the bottom.
