Petrol and Diesel Price Hike in Assam

Guwahati, 3 June: The price of petrol and diesel in Assam has increased again in the state. The price of petrol and diesel in various districts of the state increased by 0.44 to 1.09 paise on Saturday.

Petrol price hiked by 50 paise per litre and Diesel price hiked by 51 paise per litre respectively.

Petrol and diesel prices are issued daily by national oil companies. Crude oil prices are fluctuating in the international market. As a result, Assam has seen a major change in oil prices.

However, individual cities see fluctuations in their prices everyday. The prices of petrol and diesel change state by state depending upon various criteria such as Value Added Tax (VAT), freight charges, local taxes, etc.

Earlier, Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) had alarmed the customers by introducing the Prepaid (advance payment) meter. Apart from this, APDCL has also increased the fixed charge by Rs 10 per kW with effect from Last April.

Now just a month later, ABDCL has increased the power tariff from 30 paise to 70 paise per unit in the name of buying fuel and power. Accordingly, domestic consumers of lower strength will have to pay an increased electricity charge of 30 paise per unit and the rest of the other customers by 70 paise per unit.
