Ambubachi Mela 2023: Assam Govts Important Meeting and Guidelines Ahead of Ambubachi Mela

Guwahati, 11 June: An important meeting was held on Saturday at Kamakhya Devalaya on the eve of Ambubachi Mela. The meeting was held between the Government of Assam, Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration and the Temple Management Committee. The meeting was attended by State Cultural Affairs Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. Various aspects of the upcoming Ambubachi Mela were discussed in the meeting. A press conference was also held at the end of the meeting.

It is to be noted that some guidelines have been issued regarding the entry of devotees in Nilachal. Devotees will not be allowed to enter Nilachal after 9 pm. Devotees will be able to enter Nilachal only from 5 am. There will be no special arrangement for VVIP, VIP. There has been no publicity for Ambubachi this time, the meeting stated.


The inaugural ceremony of Ambubachi will be on June 22 at Sonaram ground. Temporary camps will be set up at three places for devotees. Temporary camps will be set up for police personnel on duty in Naharbari. The Tourism Minister has appealed not to take shoes and sandals.


Like last year, this time too, the movement of cars will be closed at Nilachal during the Ambubachi days. There will be provision of ferry cars for the elderly, specially abled people. CCTV cameras will be installed for the safety of devotees. The new road connecting Pandu Kamakhya will be opened for devotees.

Temporary camps will be set up at Pandu Port, Sonaram Ground and Kamakhya Railway Station. Apart from this, food items other than water or fruit juice will not be allowed to be distributed in Nilachal during Ambubachi.
