Training on enriched compost preparation and bioagent utilization

Guwahati, 29 June: A one day hands on training on Enriched compost preparation was conducted on 27th June at Balijan area of the Karbianlong district under APART, KVK, Karbianglong.

The training programme was started with the welcome speech by Mr. Bishnu Jyoti Saikia, Project Associate, APART, KVK, Karbianglong and Dr. Suja Thanga Srinivas, Specialist Plant Protection, IRRI had elaborated about enriched compost and biopesticides to the participants.

Mr. Abdul Manan, Specialist seeds, IRRI  explained the importance of enriched compost as an alternative to chemical fertilizers and the demonstrate the procedures of making enriched compost by mixing good quality vermicompost, rock phosphate, azospirillum, tichoderma in appropriate proportion and how to incorporate it in to the soil before transplanting of paddy to get a high yield organically.

He also explained about seed treatment and root drip treatment of  PQR paddy seeds (i.e. Keteki Joha and Kalawati Black Rice). There were more than thirty participants presents in the programme and Mr. Mirlong Bey, RT, IRRI and Mr. Ankur Bora and Gaurab Rajkhowa, RT, APART, KVK, Karbianglong also helps to demonstrate the process of mixing the enriched compost and makes the training programme successful.
