Guwahati Transport Department Implements New Rules for School Bus Safety

Guwahati, 4th August: In a significant move to ensure the safety of children using school buses in Guwahati city, the Transport Department has enforced new rules on Friday, in accordance with the court’s ruling.

Under these regulations, school buses will no longer enjoy unrestricted passage and must strictly adhere to court-mandated guidelines.

A crucial requirement is the appointment of a dedicated female security guard on each school bus, aligning with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights policy. This measure aims to enhance the safety and security of young passengers during their commute.

Furthermore, all school buses will be obligated to install and operate CCTV cameras, reinforcing the commitment to safeguard the well-being of children while traveling.

The enforcement of these rules will be stringent, and no leniency will be granted in ensuring their strict compliance.
