Another Shocking Case of Domestic Abuse Emerges in Assam: Minor Domestic Help Tortured
Guwahati, 8th August: While Assam is still grappling with the distressing case of domestic violence against an elderly mother in Guwahati, another distressing incident has come to light, shedding light on the plight of a minor domestic help who was subjected to physical torture by her employers.
The incident occurred in Kakopathar town within Assam’s Tinsukia district, uncovering a horrific tale of abuse against a minor girl working as a domestic help.
According to sources, the young girl was subjected to boiling hot water being poured on her body, resulting in severe burn injuries. This brutal act was allegedly carried out by Maneswar Saura and his wife, who are the employers of the minor.
Even more shocking is the fact that the wife, identified as a teacher by profession, is accused of inflicting physical harm on the minor girl. Her visibly swollen face indicates potential forceful punching or slapping.
Maneswar Saura, known to be a student leader, is yet to be linked with a specific organization. The incident has sparked outrage, highlighting the dire need for the protection of vulnerable domestic workers.
The minor victim, who hails from Moran in Dibrugarh district, was employed as a domestic help at the residence of the accused. After bravely recounting her ordeal to Kakopathar police, a case was registered against the husband-wife duo, prompting further investigation into the disturbing incident.
