Assam Singer Zubeen Garg Weighs In on ‘India vs Bharat’ Debate
Guwahati, 7th September: In the midst of the ongoing ‘India vs Bharat’ debate, Assam’s renowned singer Zubeen Garg expressed his perspective, stating that there is no practical reason to change the name of India. He highlighted that all three names – India, Bharat, and Hindustan – are interchangeably used to refer to our nation.
Garg was questioned about the developing discussion while speaking with media about his part in an upcoming film. What was the point of changing names, he asked in response. There is a historical component to the term “India” that cannot be ignored.
Garg emphasized that these names – India, Bharat, and Hindustan – are commonly used to define our country, and people will continue to employ them in this manner.
The debate gained prominence when reports surfaced suggesting that the central government would introduce a fresh resolution to rename India as Bharat during a special parliamentary session scheduled for later this month.
