Northeast Desk, 10th September: In a commendable effort to assist those affected by the ongoing violence in Manipur, the state cabinet has taken decisive action by offering financial support for the reconstruction of damaged homes. This move aims to enable displaced individuals to return to their permanent residences and rebuild their lives.
Sapam Ranjan Singh, Minister of Information and Public Relations (IPR) and Health, addressed the media to announce this crucial decision, emphasizing the government’s commitment to aiding those affected by the violence.
Official police records reveal that approximately 4,806 houses have been either burnt or destroyed throughout the state due to the violence. In response, the cabinet has resolved to create a conducive atmosphere for affected people to return home. They plan to initiate the construction of approximately 1,000 permanent houses across all affected districts, with an estimated cost of Rs 75 crore.
According on the style of home, financial aid would be given out in amounts of Rs. 10 lakh for pucca homes, Rs. 7 lakh for semi-pucca homes, and Rs. 5 lakh for kutcha homes. Payments will be made in installments so that recipients can restore their homes gradually.
In addition to addressing housing concerns, the cabinet has approved the establishment of a Directorate of Medical Education to support students pursuing medical-related courses. Furthermore, a compensation scheme has been initiated to aid victims of sexual assault, highlighting the government’s commitment to a comprehensive approach to addressing critical needs.
