Northeast Desk, 21st November: The impending visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Sikkim has been announced by the Government of Sikkim’s Home Department through circular No: Home/Protocol/2023/437. The spiritual leader is scheduled to visit the region from December 11 to 14, 2023.
A preparatory meeting, convened by the Chief Secretary, is set to take place on November 21, 2023, at the Teesta Lounge of Tashiling Secretariat at 10:30 AM. Key officials from various departments, including the Director General of Police and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, will gather for this meeting.
Originally planned for October, the Dalai Lama’s visit was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances related to a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF). The new dates for the spiritual leader’s presence in Sikkim are now set for December 11 to 14, 2023.
