Assam Congress President Issues Warning, Emphasizes Party Integrity Ahead of Elections
Guwahati, 20th February: Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah delivered a stern warning to party members on February 20, emphasizing the importance of respecting the party’s boundaries, or ‘Lakshman Rekha,’ and warning of consequences for those who breach them. Borah underscored the critical need to uphold the integrity of both the Congress party and Assam Congress, emphasizing that no individual would be exempt from punishment if found guilty of transgressing these boundaries.
Reflecting on historical sacrifices made by Congress leaders, Borah highlighted the importance of unity within the party, urging members to prioritize collective goals over individual concerns, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that the party’s focus should remain on overarching objectives rather than individual agendas.
Borah also directed his attention towards Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, cautioning him against making remarks that could potentially undermine the party’s unity. He urged Sarma to respect his position and refrain from speculating about future political affiliations.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to its principles, Borah emphasized unwavering loyalty to the Congress party and pledged to secure victory in the upcoming elections. He expressed confidence in the support of the people of Assam and highlighted the party’s legacy of significant contributions to national and state governance.
Borah concluded by stating the party’s readiness to abide by decisions made by the central leadership, emphasizing the importance of transparency and unity within the party structure.
