Manipur CM N Biren Singh Emphasizes State’s Core Issues for Peace Restoration

Northeast Desk, 14th April: Manipur’s Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, reiterated the state’s commitment to complete peace restoration, emphasizing that Manipur will not compromise on its core issues for a harmonious solution. He made these remarks during the release of the BJP Manifesto at the BJP office Thambal Shanglen.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister N Biren Singh underscored the central government’s acknowledgment of the state’s challenges, particularly the influx of illegal immigrants. He highlighted measures such as border fencing, the suspension of the Free Movement Regime, and the implementation of the Inner Line Permit system as steps taken by the central government to address these issues.

Singh reaffirmed Manipur’s resolve to solve internal problems while safeguarding the interests of its indigenous people and maintaining territorial integrity. He expressed concern over the negative impact of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), citing the loss of thousands of lives and ongoing challenges faced by the populace. Singh noted the BJP government’s decision to remove the disturbed area status from 19 police stations in acknowledgment of these concerns.

Furthermore, Singh commended the Central Government’s special focus on the development of the Northeast region, as outlined in their manifesto.

During a media interaction, Singh urged voters to support the BJP and NPF candidates to ensure the continuation of ongoing initiatives under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Singh also condemned the recent attack on oil tankers along the National Highway and assured that operations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.

The event was attended by BJP candidate Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, other BJP MLAs, ministers, central leaders, and state leaders.
