Assam: Police Seizes Suspected Heroin in Nagaon Raid; Two Drug Busts Uncover Significant Hauls
Guwahati, 22nd April: In a late-night operation conducted by Assam Police in Nagaon, authorities seized three soap boxes containing suspected heroin on April 21. Acting on variable inputs, a team from the Nagaon Police led by DSP(P) Sandipon Garg and SI Biku Barman, stationed at the Kathiatoli Outpost, recovered the contraband weighing 34 grams.
Three individuals were apprehended during the raid, and further legal procedures have been initiated against them to determine any possible linkages to the seized narcotics.
This raid follows another successful operation conducted earlier by the Karimganj police, resulting in the seizure of prohibited drugs valued at approximately Rs 20 crore. Led by Superintendent of Police Parth Pratim Das, the operation targeted a clandestine stash of one lakh yaba tablets concealed within the hidden compartment of a KIA SELTOS vehicle bearing registration number AS/01/FK/2939. The vehicle was discovered in the Sri Krishna Nagar area under the jurisdiction of the Auctionbazar police station.
Subsequent investigations revealed that two individuals, Abul Hasan from Patharkandi Erligul and Shaharul Islam from Badarpur Lamajur, were associated with the confiscated contraband. Abul Hasan, residing in Dimapur, is believed to be a key figure in the drug trafficking network operating in Margherita. It was disclosed that the illicit tablets were sourced from Cachar.
These significant seizures underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the menace of drug trafficking and ensure the safety and security of communities in Assam.
