COVID Pandemic hampered Jhumia Community of Tripura
The tribal community of Tripura Jhumia has been cultivating their crop land for years but still they have been deprived by the government as they don’t get the actual value of food grains produced through by their cultivation. They farm by cutting down the hilly jungles and burning them in the fire.
Around 180 tribal Jhumia families live in the area. Each family relies on their farming for a year-round subsistence. At present, due to the lockdown they are not able to make much profit as compared to other years. The tribal Jhumia families are getting half the price of the crops produced this year compare to other years.
