Assam: Fire Erupts at Ayushkalp Hospital in Boko, Prompt Emergency Response Averts Disaster
Guwahati, 1st August: A fire broke out at Ayushkalp Hospital in Boko early Thursday morning, prompting a rapid and effective emergency response that prevented any casualties. The hospital’s owner, Dr. Nayan Bharali, attributed the blaze to an electrical short circuit in a switchboard located in the second-floor changing room.
The fire caused a brief commotion as it began to spread, but the swift actions of hospital staff ensured the immediate evacuation of patients to the ground floor. The staff, along with the State Fire & Emergency Services Department, quickly extinguished the fire. The local community and hospital personnel expressed gratitude for the fire brigade’s quick and effective action.
Dr. Bharali emphasized that the safety of patients, including newborns, was the top priority. The coordinated efforts of the hospital staff and nurses were crucial in containing the fire and preventing it from spreading further.
Hospital employee Abhijit Das recounted the initial moments of the incident, stating that smoke was observed emanating from the second floor. Upon investigation, the fire was discovered in the changing room, prompting an immediate alert to the fire brigade while staff deployed dry powder fire extinguishers to manage the flames.
In the aftermath, Dr. Bharali reported minimal damage, with only a cupboard being affected. All electrical equipment is currently undergoing thorough inspection, and surgeries scheduled for the day have been postponed to ensure safety and preparedness.
