Assam Chief Minister Celebrates Swapnil Kusale’s Historic Olympic Bronze
Guwahati, 1st August: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised Swapnil Kusale for his historic achievement at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Kusale won a bronze medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux, marking India’s third medal of the Games and the country’s first in this category.
Kusale, who finished seventh in the qualifying round with a score of 590, made an impressive comeback in the finals, securing the bronze with 451.4 points. His performance in the final rounds demonstrated exceptional skill and perseverance, earning him the distinction of being the first Indian shooter to win an Olympic medal in this event.
The men’s 50m rifle 3 positions final, which involves shooting from kneeling, prone, and standing positions, is known for its rigorous demands. Kusale’s victory contributes to India’s successful showing in shooting at the Paris Olympics. Earlier in the Games, Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event, and later, along with Sarabjot Singh, secured another bronze in the 10m pistol mixed team event. Bhaker became the first post-independence Indian athlete to win two medals in a single Olympics edition.
