Sikkim CM Supports Local Girl’s Dream of Becoming a Pilot
Northeast Desk, 7th August: With financial backing from Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Chunu Rai of Meyong Busty, Gyalshing, is pursuing her dream of becoming a commercial pilot. Rai has enrolled in the Commercial Pilot License Course at Red Bird Flight Training Academy in Karnataka, fully funded by the Sikkim government.
In a Facebook post, CM Tamang expressed his support for Rai, stating, “We are thrilled to see Chunu Rai chasing her dreams and we are committed to supporting her every step of the way.” The state government hopes Rai’s success will inspire and empower others, reflecting their commitment to nurturing local talent.
Rai, whose parents are Hasta Raj Rai and Sumnima Rai, met CM Tamang during a public meeting and shared her aspiration to become a pilot. Rai praised the Chief Minister’s support, saying, “When I told him about this seemingly unreachable dream of mine, he supported me wholeheartedly without any hesitation. He has taken care of me just like a father does. I am here because of our Sir, who gives his all to his people. I am very grateful to have someone as caring and understanding as our dear CM Sir.”
