Manipur: Former MLA Yamthong Haokip Demands Immediate Investigation into Wife’s Death
Northeast Desk, 11th August: Former Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip has called for an urgent on-site investigation following the tragic death of his wife, Charubala Haokip, due to a bomb attack at their residence in Manipur on August 10, 2024.
Charubala, 59, was reportedly cleaning the house and surrounding area when she was struck by an explosive device, believed to be a bomb, while burning waste materials. The explosion caused severe injuries, resulting in her death despite medical efforts.
Yamthong Haokip and his daughter, who were also at the residence, were unharmed in the attack. The Saikul Police Station has launched an investigation into the incident, but the attackers’ identities and motives remain unclear.
In a letter to the Officer In-Charge of Saikul Police Station, Haokip has requested an immediate investigation to identify the nature of the explosive and thoroughly examine the circumstances of the attack.
