Meghalaya CM Conrad K. Sangma Unveils Vision for $100 Billion Economy by 2047
Northeast, 15th August: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has outlined an ambitious vision to elevate the state’s economy to $100 billion by 2047, aligning with India’s broader goal of becoming a developed nation by the 100th anniversary of its independence. The announcement was made during the Independence Day celebrations at Polo Grounds in Shillong on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sangma articulated his aspirations for the future of Meghalaya, stating, “It is an ambitious plan for transforming India into a developed country by the 100th anniversary of our independence in 2047.” He further emphasized, “I aspire for ‘Viksit Meghalaya’ to be a 100-billion-dollar economy by 2047 when we celebrate the 75th anniversary of our statehood.”
This vision is part of the ‘Viksit Meghalaya’ initiative, which seeks to accelerate the state’s development and economic growth over the next two decades. The plan involves strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and technology to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.
CM Sangma’s vision aligns with the national goal of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) by 2047, a milestone that would mark 100 years of India’s independence. The announcement reflects Meghalaya’s commitment to contributing significantly to the country’s overall progress and prosperity.
