Nagaland: Dimapur Police Ramp Up Scrutiny to Combat Illegal Immigration
Northeast Desk, 9th September: In response to rising concerns over illegal immigration, Dimapur Police have heightened their vigilance at key entry points, including the Dimapur railway station, starting September 3.
The intensified measures involve rigorous inspection of identity documents, such as Aadhar and voter ID cards, for train passengers. Authorities are also collecting detailed information from over 1,000 individuals entering the city daily, many of whom are reportedly en route to Assam’s Lahorijan and Golaghat regions.
Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie confirmed that checks are ongoing 24/7 at various inter-state entry points. He urged the public and civil society to report suspicious activities, highlighting the availability of hotlines for prompt action against illegal immigration.
