Sports Desk, 10th September: Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School (HSS), Meghalaya, powered their way into the final of the 63rd Subroto Cup Junior Boys International Football Tournament with a dominant 7-0 win over Govt. Secondary School, Arunachal Pradesh, on Monday.
A standout performance by Banganson, who netted a hat-trick, helped his team secure a spot in the final, where they will face T.G. English School (TGES), Bishnupur, Manipur, at Ambedkar Stadium on Wednesday.
Banganson opened the scoring in the 21st minute, followed by another goal in the 36th minute. Mebanlaniynit made it 3-0 in the 39th minute, while Alicestar added the fourth just before halftime. Banganson completed his hat-trick in the 46th minute, and Alicestar netted his second goal in the 51st. Substitute Menatskheng sealed the 7-0 victory in the 65th minute.
In the second semifinal, Heroba’s 27th-minute goal helped TGES edge out Sri Lanka Schools Football Association 1-0, securing their place in the final.
